About Maurissa
Not only do I have 5 years of technical and creative experience, I am young, stylistically up to date and eager to adapt to the needs of your company. I am used to working in a high-paced and professional environment and as a result am able to work with short deadlines.
I have an excellent eye for detail, and take pride in providing my clients with a high-quality transferrable final product that we both are happy with.
Furthermore, I regard each project as a new challenged as as a means to break personal and industrial boundaries. To me, each company's branding needs are puzzles, to which there is not just one solution but, rather, a plentitude. However, to me there is only one RIGHT solution, and that is the one that has the most accessibility and meets the needs of my clients most efficiently. -
Our Vision
My creative vision centers around simplicity.
I believe that the most simplistic designs, applications and advertisements are often the most effective.
To me simplistic doesn't mean bland but rather refined, smooth, straight to the point and accurate. In web design simplicity means easy navigation, the kind of navigation that never requires a user to go back. In graphics that means logos that are readable and simple - therefore accessible and recognizable.
I believe this simplicity is needed in our modern day in age, as there already are so many images and messages in circulation. Simplicity takes your company out of the clutter and puts you straight in the minds of your customers -
Testimonials
Synchronized Messaging
If you’re looking at this testimonial my best guess is that you’re half way sure about Maurissa, I know this because I was once in your position. To best describe it, it’s that feeling you get when you scheme through various website pages and you finally arrive at the testimonials’ page to validate if you’re making the right choice. Well let me put you in a calm state of mind, a year ago I made the decision to venture forth with Maurissa on project of epic proportions, the mission if she chose to accept it was to build me a social website in the likes of Twitter and Ebay geared towards college students. Unbeknown to me at the time of signing the contract I wasn’t just recruiting a hired gun, instead I would later find out that I was recruiting someone that could replicate the efforts of a whole army. To this day I’ve made peace with the fact that I’ll never truly know the extent to which she sacrificed and went beyond the limits of our signed contract to satisfy my vision. I can only promise you one thing, and it’s something I truly know, Maurissa will out work anybody and anything you throw at her because that’s the kind of person she is, and you better thank your lucky stars that she’s available.
– Sinvula Nalisa (CEO of Synchronized Messaging)F.E.A.T. For Chidlren
Maurissa is an extraordinarily talented designer who is a forward thinker that uses her creativity to express the needs of her clients. She has developed a state of the art website that encompasses the dualistic needs of our non-profit organization. Her dedication, level of professional work, and the designs at Maurissa Hunter Marketing are unparalleled. It is through the design of F.E.A.T.'s website that we are able to meet the needs of our clients and funders as well as spread the awareness of our cause.
– Jessica Reid (Co-Founder and Executive Director of Programming and Research at F.E.A.T. for Children of Incarcerated Parents)HNWS - Outside Looking In
Maurissa Hunter has recently completed several essential marketing components of a group exhibition entitled “Outside, Looking In”, for which I was projector coordinator and curator. Ms. Hunter designed and created a fantastic brand image for my exhibition, beginning with a logo, an interactive webpage and Facebook site, and including exhibition invitations and posters, a seventy page documentary catalogue and accompanying video. Ms. Hunter further extended her technological abilities to create QR codes for all of the exhibition labels adding an innovative element to our display. However, because this project is to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Haldimand Norfolk Women’s Services, Ms. Hunter rendered all of these professional services gracefully free of charge. I cannot begin to describe how pleasurable and easy it was to work with Ms. Hunter. All of her work was completed thoroughly, professionally and in a timely fashion. Ms. Hunter is extremely competent in her profession and brought many creative and innovative ideas to the table. She is an excellent designer and collaborator, and added current and imaginative dimensions to this project, by way of social media and interactive technology. In sum, Ms. Hunter extended an extremely insightful vision for this project.

About Maurissa
The Rubix Philosophy
Due to my minor in philosophy and my many years of communications theory it stands to reason I would come up with a philosophy that governs my actions and helps me explain my approach to others. The Rubix philosophy is basically my 1985 influenced philosophy based on no other than the Rubix Cube
Marketing As A Rubix Cube
If you think of your business' marketing as a rubix cube you will be able to see how each side, comprised of pieces, makes up an important area of marketing.
Each individual side is made up of several ‘sectors’. Each sector is a part of that branding component
When you start marketing, your cube looks messy like this. You have all sorts of pieces, all over the place, and none of them are lining up. The same thing can happen if you have a lot of different designers, or go years without rebranding.
If you are starting out, you may know you need to print some things in black and white, will need a contact form on your website, and have a print ad for newspapers or magazines. Or maybe you had a campaign already but only focussed on one or two sectors, and changed your brand a little to match it. Whether new or old you may find the process is muddled.
Like the process of solving a Rubix cube, there are several ways to go about it - an infinite number of twists and turns to get all the sides to match up. But how efficiently you solve it, well that requires a certain focus and a certain understanding.
Solving Your Rubix Cube
The problem with solving a rubix cube is the same problem as solving corporate branding - if you don’t go about the task with a process that looks at the whole puzzle, you will end up no better off then where you began.
Unless you look at the whole puzzle and have someone who can see the way it should come out, you may never be able to get it right again
what differentiates my approach is how I look at the puzzle of marketing. From the beginning I try to foresee any possible ways the branding will have to manifest itself.
After that I create a branding package that can be transferred to any medium. By doing that I can hand you a solved puzzle. And if your marketing needs change, I can help you expand or readjust the puzzle without making it a mess.
Why This Makes Me Different
Not only do I look at what you will need to do to make your rubix cube match on all sides, I also look around your cube. To truly solve your puzzle the best way possible, I look at the market you exist in, who your customers will be, who your investors will be, and decide how they would prefer you solved that rubix cube.
In that sense I don't believe it is really enough to just see your rubix cube. You have to almost see all the people like you, who have rubix cubes, and see how they have solved it. You have to see the network. In marketing that means you look to see how other compayny's have successfully, or unsuccessfully, branded themselves.
If you don't look around you may lose the attention of your audience because they either disagree with how you have solved your rubix cube, or you will have bored them. In marketing this means that you need to make sure you brand yourself in the way that your consumers want to see you, and essentially themselves. You have to look at what they prefer to see, how they prefer to interact and how your competition interacts with them. This is especially true if you want to be the best.
